Visa Information for International Guests

Important Information on Traveling to the United States

We look forward to your participation in MWC Los Angeles 20, and want to make sure that the registration and visa application process will not slow you down.

The United States government requires residents of many countries to obtain a temporary visa before entering the United States. The United States has instituted tighter visa requirements for non-immigrant applicants. This may increase the time it takes to process your visa application. Use the information on this page to help prepare for the process and begin your visa application well in advance of your travel dates. Visa applications in some countries can take as long as two to three months. You can check here to see visa wait times by country.

Visa Invitation Letters

GSMA can provide you with a supporting visa invitation letter which you can request through the registration system (please look out for the option to fill in your passport details – 'Personal Data'). You must be fully registered and have paid your registration fee in full, as well as completing the Passport Details section, in order to receive your visa invitation letter.

If you do not require a visa, please do not apply for visa support because the GSMA will not issue supporting information for nationalities that do not require a visa.

Important Information:

  • Visa invitation letter requests are processed shortly following full completion of your registration.
  • Visa invitation letters will only be issued for the period of the event and for entry into the United States. No other date requests or countries will be supported.
  • It is recommended that you check the full requirements for a visa application, allowing plenty of time to provide the necessary documentation from the institution the application is being processed through.
  • Information provided and visa issuance is beyond GSMA’s control. GSMA are not liable for visa processing and issuance / outcome.
  • We can provide assistance with invitation letters to Registered Attendees only.
  • The above terms apply to both attendees and exhibitors.
  • Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for cancellation conditions. There is a no refund policy in place. GSMA will not refund registration fees in cases of applicant’s failure to obtain a visa.

Helpful tips and applying for your visa:

  • Review the U.S. Department of State website for changes to the visa process that may affect you.
  • Apply for your visa early as possible and at least 90 days prior to your departure date. Make it a priority.
  • Check your passport expiration date to make sure it will valid for at least six more months.
  • If you already have a visa, check the expiration date to make sure it will not expire before your trip is completed.

Scheduling Visa Interview Appointments

Specific wait times vary for via interview appoints for each U.S. Embassy/Consulate.  Wait times depend on location and time of year, but you can find out specific procedures and estimated wait times by checking your U.S. Embassy/Consulate’s website.  Many visa interviews last only 3-5 minutes.  It is very important that you have the necessary documentation with you to ensure a successful interview.
